Here's another installment of my Competitive Brawl articles!

Before I start, I'd like to first introduce you to Smashboards if you're not familiar.

Smashboards.com is a website almost completely tailored to competitive gaming, whether you're looking for tournaments, information, or almost anything imaginable regarding Smash Bros. They have various articles regarding different "advance techniques" but for the most part they use a lot of abbreviated terms which can be somewhat intimidating to newcomers of the game. Furthermore, they're scattered throughout different articles and this hub is designated to providing organization for such techniques.

I'd also like to define "advance techniques." They are essentially moves that are executed through the usage of several buttons, using actions in such a way that they often add multiple purposes to moves, or can simply be glitches that can be exploited in the game.

So without further ado, here are some of the advance techniques you can do with specific characters.

Ganondorf
Side-B Techchasing
Ganondorf's Side-b has unique properties that knock an opponent down. The position that they're in gives them limited movement; if you can correctly predict what they're going to do, you can theoretically side-b your opponent infinitely if they react. They're options are as follows: roll left, roll right, get up, attack. Yep, that's all they can do so if you shield and you see them roll, most of the time you can react to the roll and side-b again in the direction they're rolling. Also if you think they're going to get up, or do nothing you can down air and hit them while they stay in the same place.

Super Jump!
Despite Ganondorf having pathetic recovery, he does have 1 slightly not-very-known technique known as the Super Jump. To perform it, you have to roll into the very edge of any stage. Then do a down-b and hit jump (which will use your second jump) and immediately afterwards hit jump + down-b at the same time. This will cause ganon to shoot high up vertically.

Zelda
Love Jump and Farore's Boost
This one only works after you get hit, so I'd suggest practicing this one on a custom stage with spikes. During the momentum you're hit, you jump and then use Nayru's Love (neutral-b). Doing this will allow you to get a higher jump than normal, helping with your recovery. The same can be done with Zelda's up-b causing her to go slightly higher upwards when jumping up and going far further horizontally when doing a diagonal jump.

Reverse Nayru's Love Momentum Cancel
While being knocked away horizontally, Zelda has something known as a momentum cancel; she can literally stop all momentum from knockback. To use this, Zelda needs to be facing the opposite direction that she is being sent flying. Then, activate Nayru's Love and immediately after, move the joystick in the direction Zelda is flying to do a Reverse Nayru's Love. If the move isn't executed properly, Nayru's Love will in fact do the opposite, sending her away faster and killing her.

Farore's Wind Ledge Cancel
This technique involves Zelda using up-b to warp to the very edge, making Zelda fall off without going into a helpless state. Any lag associated with it is cancelled and you can instantly follow up with a jump or any attack. The location for every stage is different though so it takes some experimentation to get the hang of this move.
For Final Destination: the warp spots is just a single step left or right of the middle when teleporting sideways. A step or two left or right of the corner of the middle diamond when teleporting diagonally.
For Smashville: the warp spots are between the second post (from the left or right) and the nearest character in the background. For diagonal warps, it's the same as sideways except a step or two more towards the centre of the stage (keep in mind you are teleporting in the opposite direction compared to the totally horizontal warp).
The rest of them need to be found on your own, so get to practicing!

Link
Invincibomb
Link can attack while holding a bomb without taking any damage or knockback from it. To perform it, you have to pull out a bomb, jump, use airdodge then hit A Instantly after (at almost the same time as the airdodge.

Bomb Sliding
This technique allows Link to slide while holding bombs, and is very similar to "glide tossing" if you've ever seen it. This technique requires that you know how to DACUS (Dash Attack Cancelled Up-Smash). To do this technique, first practice doing a DACUS by inputting a run then pressing down c-stick, up on the control stick and Z. If you do it correctly, you'll see Link doing a sliding up-smash. Now once you have that down, complete the same technique with a bomb and you'll be sliding in no time.

Captain Falcon
Falcon Kick Cancel
While standing on the ground, perform a Falcon Kick so that you go off the stage during the ending animation. This will cancel out any ending lag and allows you to perform any move immediately.

Grab Release
Captain Falcon can "grab release" several characters, or in other words combo characters out of a grab without actually throwing them. To perform this, you have to grab and just wait until the character is released; several characters are released into the air, such as Wario and Metaknight allowing you to do any aerial on Wario (including down-smash and up-smash) and also allowing you to up-smash and dash attack Metaknight.

Well that's all for now. Please feel free to leave any comment about any advanced techniques I might've left out as well as any feedback on things you might want to read in the future!

I'd like to thank Smashboards for their information on many of these topics. Many of these techniques can also be found on youtube if you want a visual on what was discussed.
